Why use UTM?

Culture of “Rhinoism”

Our company culture that is that nothing is too much for us to handle.
Based in part by the book “Rhinoceros Success” by Scott Alexander, we have adapted many of the teachings in the book to incorporate into our business. We have an always-charging attitude, never giving in to “we can’t do it” thinking, and always finding a way to get it done. This culture has allowed us the opportunity to gain market recognition as the company that “Keeps the Plastics Industry Running”. To us Rhinoism is a way of life. It marks our discipline, our audacity, and our persistence. The discipline allows us to always make sure the customer needs are met. The audacity allows us to take on jobs that other shops cannot do or simply do not want to do. Persistence is what has led us to the forefront of the molding repair services industry. It is this “Rhinoism” that will continue to lead us into the future.

Responsiveness

The biggest reason that we have been successful in our market niche is the fact that we are willing to go above and beyond to make sure that our customers are taken care of. We believe that our responsiveness to customer needs is second to none. With our fleet of trucks and our employee willingness to stay until the work is done, we are able to offer unmatched response time to customer emergencies. Our trucks allow us to be on the road to a customer facility within minutes of receiving a call for service. Our new service-on-site van is fully stocked with the tools to take care of repairs at a customers’ facility. Quite simply, your emergencies are our expertise. That is why we say we are “Keeping the Plastics Industry Running”.

Competitive Pricing Solutions

With our flexibility in scheduling and our “Rhino” culture, we are able to provide our customers with pricing that is competitive with every shop in our market. Working with our affiliated companies, we are able to provide costing solutions that are within our customers’ budgets on new tooling projects, engineering changes, and related manufacturing services. While we strive to be a competitive pricing solution for our customers, it is our lead times, combined with our prices that save our customers money. Lower tooling delays can save manufacturing and set-up time, and this is where we are able to help recoup money.

Understanding of Global Culture and the need for collaborations

It is our belief that to ultimately succeed in our industry, you must use the resources that are available to you, and not to see every tool shop as a competitor. We also believe that to keep our customers’ interest and needs at the forefront, we must be able to work with anyone that will enable us to provide the services that our customers need. We have bought into the fact that we must all work to what we are good at, and to rely on partnerships for their strengths. Ultimately, we are trying to align ourselves with global resources so that we can offer our customers solutions, independent on location. We are able to offer unmatched service due to the fact that we are willing to look for partnerships with not only local and regional companies, but also global companies. This willingness has helped us to broaden our work scope and affords us the opportunity to expand in our services provided.

Location, Location, Location

With the Southeast USA has become a hotbed for the automotive industry and the related plastics industry, we believe that our location is huge plus. With 2 plants located halfway between Charlotte, NC and Atlanta, GA, and a plant in Alabama, we believe that location is one of our major assets. We believe that our central location is key to being able to service the plastics companies in this area in a more timely manner than can other shops comparable to our size.

Company History

Established in 1995, United Tool & Mold, Inc. is a leading provider of engineering changes and repair services for the plastic injection and blow molding industry for the Southeast USA. Easley, SC Plant
Founded on the principles of keeping the plastics industry running, UTM strives to be a one-stop-shop for all mold-servicing needs.

From 1995 to 2003 we focused on Engineering Changes and repair of smaller molds.

In 2003 we expanded our business to become a major provider of mold repair services for small and large molds up to 125,000 lbs.

By purchasing our 2nd facility in Duncan South Carolina and focusing on cost-effective and time sensitive repair services for large tooling, we have become heavily involved with the automotive plastics sector.

Since opening the Duncan facility we have doubled the factory size to further expand our capabilities including a 55 metric ton overhead crane and expanded the machining capabilities by acquiring a TOS Horizontal CNC Mill and made over $1million investment in large 5 Axis CNC.

While we have made many changes to both equipment and the building over the years, our principles remain the same – Keeping the Plastics Industry Running Duncan, SC Plant.

We pride ourselves on exceeding our customer expectations. We are able to accomplish this through:

1. Quality Craftsmanship
2. Compressed and/or expedient lead times
3. A willingness to do whatever is necessary
4. Competitive pricing.
5. Engineering services
6. Integrating a global perspective to achieve the best concept to development time possible.
