Locations and Staff

Whether it be our Easley or Alabama facilities for small tooling, or our Duncan facility for large tooling, United Tool & Mold has the flexibility to meet the timing demands of our customers. Our staff at UTM can offer unparalleled service for any tooling needs by combining the resources of both plants to make sure that the customer time constraints are met.

At 25,000 square feet with the ability to handle up to 30,000 lbs, our Easley facility is the home to our main office. With an open floor plan, recently upgraded through lean principles, we are able to flow repairs through our shop without losing time due to repetitive movements. Recent improvements include an upgrade to our spotting area by the addition of a larger Dake spotting press.

While we are able to provide numerous services at our Easley facility, our Duncan facility provides us the opportunity to offer mold repair services on a much larger scale. With the ability to handle up to 125,000 lbs, the 36,000 sq. ft. facility gives UTM the edge on quick turnaround work for large tooling.

While the same lean principles have been evaluated at Duncan, perhaps the most important upgrade at our Duncan facility has been the addition of our new Fidia 5 axis milling machine.

The commitment of our employees allows us to be able to aggressively quote lead times that no other mold shop can match. We believe that our employees are the best in the industry because of their “Can Do” attitude with regards to any customer requests.

The “Rhino” atmosphere at our facilities is what affords us the opportunity to constantly charge into new territories. The commitment that our employees make daily is what has kept United Tool & Mold at the forefront of the mold repair service industry.

Facility Upgrades - Shop Wide

Since the addition of our Duncan plant 4 years ago, we have continued to upgrade equipment and refine processes to allow us to expand our services capabilities. Through increased machining capabilities, freight services, and partnerships, we are able to provide our customers with a one-stop-shop mold services center with customer lead times and quality as our main focus. We have expanded these services through the following:

HTS160 Mobile laser welding system

The welder, a mobile HTS160, is produced by O.R. Laser technology. UTM’s main goal in acquiring the mobile HTS160 is to allow UTM to further reduce lead times, thus saving the customer machine time. The unit will be based out of the Duncan plant and will be mobile using a self-contained trailer, suitable for travel to customer facilities. The new mobile HTS160 will allow UTM to repair even the smallest tooling, with precision accuracy to .002”. The new laser welding unit will allow UTM to weld aluminum, steel, copper, and titanium alloys as well as chrome-nickel alloy and nitride surfaces. The system combines mobility and flexibility to allow the repairing of small tools and large tools alike. The swiveling arm and mobile resonator makes possible the welding of tooling regardless of positioning or geometry.

Overweight Hauling Services

With the addition of a new Transcraft DTL 3000 Tri-axle trailer, with an onboard digital scale, UTM can now haul tools up to 80,000 pounds. Complete with a quick-draw, rolling canopy system, the new trailer will allow for protection from the elements without the time-consuming tarping of tools.
